High Five for Friday

Hi there! I'm linking up with Jennie today to share some fun stuff from the past week.

1) Saturday was the third swimming lesson so we're half way through. I sort of don't feel like he's getting as much out of it as I'd hoped but I'm trying to stay positive about it.

2) After swimming lessons we decided to run some errands for school stuff and had a really great evening. After some clothes shopping, we had dinner at a re-vamped shopping center which was near their new play ground so Grant got to play a bit after dinner. We wandered around for a little bit after play time, found a cupcake shop and got some yummy dessert to go. It was a pretty great Saturday!
Dinner at Red Hot & Blue
Followed by the playground
Then some heavily frosted - and delicious - cupcakes
from Gigi's for dessert.
3) I've been neglecting exercise lately. The only time I really have available to go is in the mornings and that is soooo hard to do. But Sunday morning I decided to get up and go and it was such an awesome morning! (Too bad I haven't been able to motivate myself any other morning this week.)

4) There's been some backyard baseball this week in the evenings at our house and we're having so much fun with it! Somehow, I've become the pitcher and I'm pretty terrible at it but Grant has no idea...for now.

5) Monday was Grant's kindergarten assessment. I had to drop him off at his new school for a couple hours and then this afternoon we find out who his teacher will be ON MONDAY. Seriously? Kindergarten on Monday. I'm going to get through this, right?

I had promised snow cones after the assessment, Grant
went with the dinosaur flavor.
6) Today is Grant's last day at preschool. I think I'm more emotional about that than I am about his first day at kindergarten. He's been at this daycare/preschool for 4 1/2 of his 5 years and they've done so much for all of us in so many ways. To say thanks one last time, I baked some brownie bars for the teachers/staff and Grant wrote them a little note. I know he's really going to miss it there and we will too!
On the left is a picture of him "playing outside" and a flower on the right

Happy Friday everyone!
Have a great weekend!

High Five for Friday

Hello! I'm linking up with Jennie today to share some fun stuff from the past week.

1) On Saturday, Grant started swimming lessons! He was really excited about and is even more excited to go back tomorrow. He's definitely the least experienced of his group but I think he'll get the hang of it. He didn't want to go under water at all and by the end of the first session they had him sticking his head under!

2) Also on Saturday, I got to make an elephant themed baby shower cake! It was a for a good friend's brother and his wife. I've been able to make all the baby shower cakes for their family :)

When I saw this fabric, I had to make them a blanket too!
3) Grant loves to demonstrate his "ninja moves" for us.

4) Isn't kids artwork the best?? This elephant made my day!

5) One of Grant's favorite teachers turns 21 today, so we made her a cake to help her celebrate! ("We" meaning Grant helped me add a couple things to the batter and then told everyone at school that he made the cake.)

Happy Friday everyone!
Have a great weekend!

High Five for Friday

Hi! I'm running a little late today, but I still wanted to share some of the fun stuff from the past week.

1) Friday evening we packed up chairs and popcorn and headed to another park for an outdoor movie night. I figured with it being June we'd be sitting there dying of heat stroke but it was pretty comfortable (buggy, but comfortable). They were playing the new Spongebob movie, which was pretty terrible. But Grant liked it and had a good time.
The guys waiting for the movie to start
2) Saturday & Sunday, Grant and I explored our first Kiwi Crate box. (Check out all the stuff it had HERE.)

3) I sewed this fun shark blanket!
It currently has no recipient but I had the fabric and it's so cute!
4) I taught Grant some card games! He absolutely loves them.
Go fish!
5) Sunday afternoon/evening, I wanted to run some errands. Since Husband usually does a lot of work on Sundays, I took Grant with me and we had a little dinner date (followed by ice cream). We share a love of Olive Garden!

6) Grant's preschool has a calendar and each day has something to bring or do on it. This week the two favorites were crazy hair day and costume day.
Costume day - Iron man, of course!
And crazy hair day!
It's been a pretty stressful week for me but we had so much fun last weekend so I'm hoping to make this weekend another good one. And we're looking forward to a nice Father's Day!
Happy Friday everyone!
Have a great weekend!

High Five for Friday

Hello again! Today I'm linking up with Jennie to share some fun stuff from the past week.

1) Friday was Grant's preschool graduation! It was absolutely adorable. The teachers did an awesome job working with the kids and the kids just too freaking cute. AND I only cried a tiny bit!

2) On Saturday, me, Husband, and my in-laws took Grant to Chuck E Cheese for lunch to celebrate graduation. Grant had the best time! He's been wanting to go back since we went for a birthday party and this seemed like the perfect thing to do. The best part was when he put a token in one of the ticket "jackpot" games. He said "Did I win?!" and when we looked, tickets werejust pouring out!

He won over 100 tickets off one token!
3) One of the things I really wanted to sew this year was a dinosaur tail for Grant. And I did it! It's not perfect but it's damn good for a first try. And Grant loves it!

4) There was more slip-n-slide action over the weekend!

5) I found cheese curd! It's one of my favorite things from back home and practically impossible to get here. But I randomly found it at a Super Target! It's not from back home, but it'll do for the craving :)

It's been a pretty good week and I'm looking forward to nice weekend.
Happy Friday everyone!
Have a great weekend!

Preschool Graduation

Friday evening was Grant's preschool graduation! It's so hard to believe that he'll be starting kindergarten in just two months. He's been so excited about graduation, it's all he's talked about at dinner for at least a month (or two). Thursday night while he was telling us how he was going to get his diploma...I started crying. Right there at the dinner table. Husband rolled his eyes at me and Grant said "Do you have tears?!" I just knew I'd be a wreck Friday evening.

I held it together though! Even when we dropped Grant off in the room to get ready and I was confronted with 40 preschoolers in caps & gowns, I didn't break down. Yay me.

And even when the little ones paraded out - no tears :)

Grant was pretty nervous. I could tell when I saw him coming out that he was trying to find us.
I love this picture. That boy seemed so irritated that
Grant sat in the wrong seat (also, that boy is hilarious).
But once he found us, he was all smiles for us.

First they did the Pledge of Allegiance:

And then they sang "God Bless America"

Then some of the teachers spoke and one read a poem that finally made me cry (but that was the only time!).

Listening to the poem that made Mama cry
And then they sang this adorable song called "I Want To Be A Truck Driver":

It was so cute! It was also a pretty long song so I'm amazed and impressed that they got 40 preschoolers to memorize and "dance" to a song that long!

Then it was time for diplomas!

Lining up! (The sun was not my friend that evening)
Time for Grant!

He was so proud of himself!
After that there was another song that they danced in the aisles to. I couldn't tell you the name of the song because I was laughing too hard at the way Grant dances:)

The first thing he said when it was over and he was getting hugs from all of us (Gramma & Grandpa went too) was "Can I have a cupcake now??" So we did a few pictures and then my little cake-hater sat down and ate a whole cupcake.

Our little graduate!
Family picture!
When we got home that night, Grant got his graduation present - a new backpack with his name on it for school this year (and some new books for us to read). We also went to Chuck E Cheese on Saturday for a celebratory lunch. I think he had a pretty great weekend!
